New Development!

Hey all,

So I've been thinking about my schedule, and spending the airfare to get out to California for a weekend seems, on my budget, like a waste. So maybe--just MAYBE--we can meet up over the holidays? I'll already be out there, and since many of our families live in California, maybe we could just go camping in the Santa Monica mountains or something. Now, I know this has some potential drawbacks, namely:
1)potential cold/wetness
2)coldness of ocean
3)Ariel may not be able to make it down/everyone may not be planning to be in Southern California for Xmas.

So obviously, if this doesn't work, scrap it. But I do propose picking another date (hell, we can put this on the back burner till 2011 if you want). I'm just not sure that I want to put all that effort and money into what will be a three- or four-day weekend. If everyone else still wants to make it happen, go for it, but I don't think I'm gonna make it out for end of June/beginning of July anymore.

So, other date options:
--Holidays (new year's?)
--August?
--2011?

Kirk Creek?

Or any other of the lovely first come first served campsites in Big Sur? Sounds good to me!

Here's a list of all the Big Sur campgrounds.

I say let's plan for Kirk Creek in Big Sur and make some reservations (six months ahead is the limit). It's cheap, beautiful, and has fire pits. No showers apparently but we'll be right next to the ocean! And there are spigots for fresh water, sinks and flush toilets. Pretty ritzy!

So that means, we need to finalize these dates ladies! Are you all going to want to stay for a week or just a four-day weekend (as I will be)? Comment that info, bitchezzzz!

Corral Post

Here's what I've been reading so far:

1) End of June/beginning of July is our probable date (specifically: 6/28-7/3).
i) we may want to stay less than a week depending on costs.
a) because yurts can get pricey. But we will keep our eyes peeled for deals.

2) WA is out because of the burn ban. Northern California coastal region seems to be the winner.

3)Significant Others and All Others may come after a few days of exclusivity but they have to make their own arrangements.

Jenna, I know you offered to scope something out and/or book (or am I remembering wrong?)and of course we will all be on the lookout as well. Let's confirm these dates in the comment section of this post, and then we can get cracking on booking. (I think we will want to do it as early as possible.)

Another thing to post in your confirmation comment: what kinds of camping gear you have in your possession. Flashlight, lantern? camp stove? Dutch oven? cooler? extra sleeping bag?

Date and location

Just thought I'd post what I already said for some reason. Ok, so my only request for date info is that it be around the end of June since there's a wedding that is proooobably taking place then in CA that I want to go to. As for place, somewhere near SoCal is best for me in order to not make a ton of plane flights next summer.

Yurts, Yurts, Give Us The Yurts!

I vote for a yurt! In Northern California or Oregon! Or Washington!

Here's the thing: yurts are cool. They do not ask you to stick poles through them, nor tie down stakes, nor do they feel house-like. How's about this website? YURTS WA! Also, is it just asking for trouble to go to Cape Disappointment? And here's the yurt link for Oregon: YURTS OR! And here is an umbrella website with links to yurts all over the Western US: YURTS WESTERN USA!

Seriously though, let's nail this down! Some things to consider:
--Is there a fresh or running water source in the camp?
--Can we make a campfire there?
--Can we bring alcohol?
--Are there hiking trails or other things to do nearby?
--Should we bring cards and poker chips? Or a Tarot deck?

Things to consider!

Lots of exclamation points this time!!!!!

"Um, so like..." aka The Awkward Question

..are we definitely not bringing significant others? In most cases, they were part of the #124 vibe as well, so perhaps it's not out of spirit to ask them to come also. But I also recognize that there is value in just sealing it off as all girls, and that the prevailing opinion may be in favor of that. Your thoughts?
